The Family Trees of the Grant, Klinger, Smit, Plentauskas, Nuijen, Wiswell, Norman and Many Other Allied Families

Welcome to the main page of this website. Our Tangled Tree tries to provide a central repository for genealogical stories about our many different ancestors. Some of them are my direct ancestors and others are not. Some are the ancestors of what I might consider strongly or weakly allied families. There may be some who aren't "related" at all, but I believe we define who and what relates to us not only in the present but historically. We are all the continuing stories of those who came before us. This work could not have been accomplished without the generous assistance of others over the years, and for their labors I am enormously grateful. While I have completed considerable research on some of the people you find here, only a little is known about several others, however from the connections I have made I am of the firm belief that there are several knowledgeable people out there who can fill in some of the gaps in these stories.

Of course, I hope to establish contact with other researchers interested in some of the people included (and those not yet included). For at least some of the individuals included, I have more information, including detailed source references. If you find someone of interest please use the Compiler link at the bottom of the every page of the website.

You can browse for individuals on this site by clicking on the Search option. Alternatively you may use the Surname Index link, which will take you to a surname page with surnames listed alphabetically.

For those wishing to browse available photos, several filtered photo galleries can be found from that Main Page menu under Photo Galleries.

Over time I hope to include more detailed biographies as well for at least some of the individuals listed, and these will be included in the Notable People section. Background information on some specific families of interest are linked in the Notable Families option.

It is also of course more than possible that you will find incorrect information on this site. If so, please send me the corrected information (and your source for it, if possible, as sometimes the discrepancy is just that sources may disagree). Again you may use the Compiler link at the bottom of each page for such communication. I will attempt to add information that people send me as often as my time permits (which may not be as frequently as some may hope).

Finally I have done everything reasonably possible to exclude information on living persons other than names. This is done in order to protect the privacy of those who may not wish to have information about their lives out there for all to see. If you send me information on living persons, I will certainly add it to my more complete data covering everyone, and hope to build functionality such that all of the information on these private branches would be accessible to those who supply that information. In these specific cases it obviously doesn't make sense that the person who supplied this more sensitive information would not then be able to see it on the website. However, please understand that I believe that protecting the privacy of living people should remain paramount.

In the end, however you may use this website however you wish, but I hope that you find a few gemstones to share with others and enjoy the fruit of work done so far.
