Sarah Young

Person Exhibits

Parents

Biography

  • Parentage:1,1
  • Birth: 18 September 1859, Schuylkill County, PennsylvaniaO+.2
  • According to M. Robert Klinger, Sarah was born circa 1850, but this is almost certainly incorrect1
  • Census: 18 June 1860, Cressona Borough, Schuylkill County, PennsylvaniaO, federal census of 1 June 1860, household of Robert R. Young, The census reports that Robert was 34 years old, and that he worked as a machinist. It also notes that his real estate was valued at $700, while his personal estate was worth $75.3
  • Census: 22 July 1870, Sugar Notch Borough, Luzerne County, PennsylvaniaO, federal census of 1 June 1870, household of Robert R. Young, According to the census, Robert was 45 years old and worked as an engine builder. It also suggests that he no longer owned any land, but that his personal estate had grown in value from 10 years previously to $250.4
  • Sarah may have died young. M. Robert Klinger's genealogy indicates that Sarah died in 1868, however her presence in the 1870 census proves that incorrect. Nevertheless no further record has been found of her after that census1,4
  • Death: 18 February 1873, age 13, died from consumption.2
  • Burial: 18 February 1873, Wilkes-Barre City CemeteryO, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, PennsylvaniaO. lot 503, moved from old grave yard.2,5
