  • Biography:. Of note, Abigail's younger brother, Samuel Huntington was a delegate to the Continental Congress in 1775, and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. He was later president of the Continental Congress from 1779 until 1781, when ill health forced him to resign. He eventually served as governor of Connecticut from 1786 until his death in 1796.1

  • Biography: 6 March 1804, Junius, Seneca County, New YorkO. The early town of Junius in Seneca County later was split into the towns of Junius, Tyre, Waterloo, and the north part of Seneca Falls. On 6 March 1804, the second town election in Junius was held at Stephen Hooper's tavern, and our Stephen Crane was elected one of the two Commissioners of Highways at that time.3
  • Biography: 10 August 1807. A few short years later on 10 August 1807, the First Presbyterian Church of Junius was organized with the Rev. Jedediah Chapman presiding. Stephen was ordained one of four ruling elders at that time, and he was one of the 17 original members of the church.4
  • Land Sale: 17 December 1811, Junius, Seneca County, New YorkO, to Moses Crane 28 acres for $200.
    Stephen Crane of Junius sold to Moses Crane of same place for $200 a part of lot 48 in the township of Junius beginning at northwest corner of Lewis Winant's land and southwest corner of Stephen Crane's land, thence north to the northwest corner of Stephen Crane's land and to the southwest corner of Asher Halsey's land, thence south to the south line of Stephen Crane's land and the north line of Lewis Winant's land, then to the place of beginning.

    Stephen Crane attested to the deed on 18 September 1820, and witnessed by Thos. W. Rosevelt and Stephen B. Crane, then recorded 17 October 1825.5
