Biography
- Parentage:1,1
- Birth: 15 March 1833, *Cavan, Ireland.
Her eldest son's death certificate indicated that his mother was born in "Cave Co.," Ireland. No such county exists, but this might indicate the actual Irish counties of Kerry, Cavan, Clare, Kildare, Kilkenny, or Cork. Cavan would at least seem to be the most likely candidate, however her own death certificate indicates she was born in "Wood Town," Ireland. As of this time no town of that name in County Cavan has been found, however there is a town called Woodtown in County Donegal. Her eldest son's 1930 census enumeration also reports that she had been born in Northern Ireland. Neither County Cavan or County Donegal are in Northern Ireland, but both, most especially Donegal, are in the north of Ireland, Cavan just south of Northern Ireland, and Donegal is in the northwest corner of Ireland.1,2,3
- Sarah McGinnis emigrated with James McGinnis and Nancy Patterson between 1833 and 1835 in IrelandO.4
- One record suggests that she immigrated to the United States in 1849, although this is almost certainly incorrect, as her father was here much earlier.5
